Sevilla are five points off of first-place Real Madrid heading into La Liga’s weekend set of fixtures. Los Rojiblancos will battle Getafe this weekend as they seek to pile on the pressure for Real Madrid.
Getafe claimed a surprise 1-0 home win against Real Madrid last weekend. Their victory coupled with Sevilla’s 1-0 away win at Cadiz improved Julen Lopetegui’s team’s chances of lifting the La Liga title.

There is a lot of football left to play in Spain and Sevilla cannot afford to slip up this weekend.
Real Madrid have played on more game than Sevilla and this weekend, Los Rojiblancos will cash in their game in hand. By the end of the weekend, Sevilla could be within two points of Real Madrid.
A win against an in-form Getafe at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium won’t be easy. Getafe are undefeated in their last six La Liga matches under manager Quique Sanchez Flores.
The Azulones are on a two-match winning streak ahead of the fixture in Seville.
Lopetegui’s Sevilla are unbeaten in five straight games. Sevilla have La Liga’s best defence with just 13 goals conceded.
However, Los Rojiblancos’ problem has been goalscoring. Just 30 goals have been tallied compared to Real Madrid’s league-leading 41.
Defender Jules Kounde will sit out the match due to a suspension, while Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri is ruled out following a positive COVID-19 test.
Fernando Reges is ruled out with an injury. Erik Lamela is still out and won’t return until February. Jesus Navas and Suso could return for the game following their respective injuries.
Getafe’s Djene Dakonam is suspended for the clash in Seville. Meanwhile, Flores could get the trio of Chema, Jose Juan Macias, and Sabit Abdulai fit for the fixture following their respective injury problems.
Sevilla claimed a 1-0 win at Getafe earlier this season thanks to a goal from Lamela in the 90th minute. Four of the last 14 matches in La Liga between these teams ended 1-0.
There is a strong possibility the game on Sunday in Sevilla will also finish 1-0.
Los Rojiblancos have had seven of their 28 matches in all competitions finish 1-0 this season. Playing at home, Sevilla start and finish matches well.
Five times this season Sevilla have scored in the opening 15 minutes and five times in the closing 15 minutes of games.
Sevilla defeated Getafe 1-0 with a 90th minute goal earlier this campaign. While they may not leave it as late this time around, Sevilla should post a 1-0 win against Getafe at home.
