New Years Eve features the upcoming clash between high-flying Eibar and strugglers Real Sociedad B in La Liga 2 with both teams keen to grab all three points but for very different reasons.
Firstly, taking a look at Eibar, and the hosts currently sit in 2nd place and occupy one of the automatic promotion spots in the Spanish second tier but as they’re six points adrift of the league leaders, Almeria, and just one point above 3rd placed Tenerife, the hosts know they can’t afford to slip up here.

Eibar have produced some solid results of late though as the hosts have lost just once in their last eight matches overall in the domestic second tier while also picking up important wins against Real Oviedo, Alcorcon, Girona and Las Palmas along the way.
The bigger picture shows that Eibar have lost just two of their last 19 matches overall, both of which were away from home, while on home soil at their Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa, Eibar are unbeaten in their last nine games, picking up seven wins in the process.
Onto Real Sociedad B and the visitors sit second from bottom and occupy a place in the relegation zone ahead of this difficult looking trip to Eibar on New Years Eve, while the visitors also find themselves six points adrift of safety as well.
Real Sociedad B’s situation hasn’t been helped by the fact that the visitors have also lost their last five league games on the trot in La Liga 2 to Girona, Tenerife, Burgos, Mirandes and Real Valladolid respectively.
Indeed, it’s been a rather torrid campaign so far for Real Sociedad B who have managed to pick up just four wins from their total of 21 matches played to date.
They have lost three out of their last four matches on their travels, the visitors look to have their work cut out at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa on Friday afternoon.
To potentially make matters worse, Real Sociedad B have also managed to keep just two clean sheets in their 10 away games so far in this season’s Spanish second tier campaign and this could spell further trouble for the visitors.
Eibar are in solid form right now and the hosts have won four of the last five meetings against Real Sociedad B.
