Scottish Premiership champions Rangers will look to continue their winning ways under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and cap off a memorable 2021 by beating St Mirren and extend their unbeaten run to nine games ahead of the winter break.

It has been announced that the SPFL will be bringing their winter break forward and as a result, this will be the last weekend of fixtures in Scotland’s top flight for the next three weeks after Christmas.

Such a break in the system will likely not benefit Rangers who have not lost in the league since way back on the second gameweek of the season, meaning they’re unbeaten in now 18 league games.

In fact, the champions have lost that game to Dundee United on the domestic front in all competitions and to Hibernian in the Scottish League Cup. The club have since gone on to beat the likes of Celtic, Hearts and Motherwell in the league and even finish second in their Europa League campaign.

Better yet, they made amends of their only league defeat in their last game as they got revenge on Dundee United with a 1-0 that subsequently extended their lead at the top of the table to six points, putting the Gers on an extraordinary 15 wins, three draw, and one loss - this means the club have dropped just nine points from the 57 available to this point.

Van Bronckhorst’s men have also managed to score an incredibly impressive 41 goals from only 19 games and conceded an exceptional 14 goals only.

What's more, Rangers haven't conceded a goal in the league since late November by beating Dundee United, St. Johnstone, Hearts, Dundee F.C, and Hibernian in that time.

This means the league leaders have seen nine goals scored and zero conceded during December and won five in a row, and better yet, they even went away to Lyon in the Europa League during this time and drew 1-1 in a very commendable result.

St Mirren picked up a very good point to Rangers’ Old Firm rivals Celtic in midweek, which benefits both sides here.

It does also mean that the 2018 Scottish Championship winners are above the bottom three by a point, but have now drawn an almighty 10 games from 19 outings, winning only three. On the other hand, it's these draws that have kept them in the safe zone of the SPFL for now.
