Montpellier will be seeking a fourth league win on the trot in the French top flight on Wednesday night when they play host to Angers at the Stade de la Mosson having captured three wins on the trot previously and no doubt looking to strengthen their existing position in Ligue 1.
Montpellier currently sit in 5th place on the Ligue 1 ladder but they bring in renewed momentum into this upcoming midweek clash against Angers having picked up recent wins against Metz 3-1, Clermont 1-0 and a rousing 4-0 win away from home at Brest.

Results overall have been fairly mixed where Montpellier have been concerned but the hosts have been fairly reliable on home soil at the Stade de la Mosson where they’ve suffered just the one defeat in their previous eight games.
In addition, Montpellier also hold a steady record at home against Wednesday night’s visitors, Angers, as the hosts are unbeaten in their last five meetings which consists of three wins and two draws.
A disappointing 1-0 defeat away from home at Clermont last time out in Ligue 1 for Angers saw the visitors drop down the domestic top flight table to 9th place but they still only trail Wednesday night’s hosts, Montpellier, by a three-point margin.
Angers had started the Ligue 1 season in promising fashion as they were unbeaten after their opening five games which included early season wins against Strasbourg, Lyon and Rennes but the visitors have been unable to sustain that early momentum.
With just two wins out of their last nine games, Angers seem to be losing some steam in their bid to claim a top five finish and possible involvement in European football next season and despite wins against Lorient and Reims, the four defeats within this period have pegged Angers back.
Losses to PSG, Nice, Monaco and Clermont have prevented Angers from making further in-roads into the top five pack and although they’ve been hard to beat on the road (losing just one of their last nine games away from home), the draw has dominated in recent times on their travels as Angers have been involved in no fewer than six stalemates within this period.
The draw may therefore come into play once again on Wednesday night.
