Rangers are on a brilliant 14-match unbeaten streak in all competitions ahead of Wednesday’s match at Ibrox versus St. Johnstone. Even with Rangers losing manager Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa in November, the team has continued on under the leadership of Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Wednesday night’s match in the Scottish Premiership will pit first-place Rangers against last-place St. Johnstone. Callum Davidson’s team sit in 12th place after 16 matches.

The Saints are on a three-match losing streak but could emerge from the relegation position with a positive result versus Rangers.

St. Johnstone have recorded 14 points from 48 points possible this season. The Saints took five points from the last 18 available in the Premiership. Rangers, on the other hand, took a perfect 18 points from the last 18 available to them in the Scottish top flight.

Rangers conceded a mere four goals across their last six matches. Meanwhile, Van Bronckhorst’s team scored 19 goals. At the weekend, Rangers defeated Hearts 2-0, ending the Edinburgh team’s limited chances of winning the Scottish Premiership.

St. Johnstone met Rangers in September in the league with the match ending 2-1 in favour of the Glasgow team. Kemar Roofe and James Tavernier scored after St. Johnstone’s Michael O’Halloran opened the scoring.

Roofe’s goal came from the penalty spot and all three goals were in the second half. Twelve straight matches between Rangers and St. Johnstone ended without a defeat for the Glasgow side. Eight of those 12 matches ended in wins for Rangers.

Van Bronckhorst has four players on the Rangers’ injury list ahead of Wednesday night’s match. Midfielder Ryan Jack, defender Leon Balogun, midfielder Nnamdi Ofoborh, and midfielder Filip Helander are all likely to miss the game. The quartet is supposed to return in late December.

Davidson has three players in the treatment room at St. Johnstone. Cameron McPherson is ruled out with a groin injury. Murray Davidson is suffering from a knock but could be passed fit in time for the trip to Glasgow.

David Wotherspoon is ruled out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury. In need of a midfielder to replace Wotherspoon, St. Johnstone signed midfielder Jacob Butterworth until the end of the season. The former Man United youth player most recently played for Melbourne Victory in Australia.

Rangers are unbeaten in 14 straight matches and should continue their great run of form versus St. Johnstone. Six straight Premiership matches for Rangers ended in wins and Wednesday’s match should finish as a win for Rangers as they claim a victory to nil.
