The French Ligue 1 action on Sunday features the clash between Strasbourg and Marseille as the two teams face off at the Stade de la Meinau with both looking to further their ambitions of a top five finish and European involvement for next season.
Strasbourg bring a solid looking six-match unbeaten run into this Ligue 1 encounter on Sunday afternoon against Marseille as the hosts have collected three wins and three draws, a sequence of results that has helped maintain Strasbourg’s target of a possible top five finish.

The 6th placed hosts sit just outside of the European places in the French top flight but wins against Lorient 4-0, Bordeaux 5-2 and a 3-0 win away from home at Nice prove that Strasbourg are no pushovers and certainly mean business this term.
Strasbourg have plundered a total of 16 goals in these last six games and have conceded just 6 in reply while results at home have also been encouraging as the hosts have suffered just one defeat out of their last eight matches on home soil.
Marseille dropped down to 3rd place in the Ligue 1 standings following last weekend’s 2-1 loss at home to Brest which also put an end to a promising seven-match unbeaten run in the domestic top flight.
Marseille had registered four wins within these preceding seven games having collected maximum points against Lorient, Clermont, Troyes and Nantes while also picking up points in draws with PSG, Nice and Metz as well.
Overall, the visitors have lost just one of their last eight matches overall while form and results away from home have also taken a turn for the better for Jorge Sampaoli’s side as they’ve lost just once in their last eight outings on the road as well.
However, with just five wins from their previous 20 away games in Ligue 1, Marseille can’t be considered favourites for this clash, nor are they guaranteed to pick up all three points either this Sunday, especially against an improving and consistent Strasbourg outfit.
Marseille have also failed to score in seven of these last 20 away matches and have kept just six clean sheets in the process.
