On Tuesday night, Sporting Braga host FC Vizela at the Estadio Municipal de Braga, as the home side look to push back into the European spots in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.
An eight-game unbeaten run in the Portuguese top-flight came to an end for Braga in spectacular fashion last time out, as they suffered a 6-1 defeat at title-chasing Benfica.
The loss also ended a promising defensive streak, as Carlos Carvalhal’s team had kept back-to-back clean sheets in the Primeira Liga.
The game continued a recent trend of Sporting Braga’s games being high-scoring, as four of their last six league matches have produced over 2.5 goals.
Sporting Braga are unbeaten in four home matches in the Primeira Liga, having picked up two wins and two draws in the process. A key to that recent unbeaten run has been the home side scoring at least two goals in their last three home matches in the Portuguese top-flight.
Vizela have made a mixed start to their maiden campaign in the Primeira Liga and currently sit just a point above the relegation play-off spot in the Portuguese top-flight.
A 1-1 home draw against Estoril last time out means that the visitors are winless in nine matches. However, seven of those winless matches have finished in draws, which has kept Alvaro Pacheco’s team out of the relegation zone.
Their recent league matches have been tight and low-scoring affairs, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their previous eight matches in the Primeira Liga.
Vizela have yet to win an away game in the Portuguese top-flight. However, they have drawn their last three games on their travels against Gil Vicente, Portimonense and Famalicao.
Forebet predicts that Vizela will pick up another point in another low-scoring encounter to thwart Sporting Braga’s attempts at a return to the European spots.
