Rayo Vallecano, on the other hand, find themselves sixth – five points ahead of Mallorca and three points outside the Champions League places.
Vallecano have made a solid start to the campaign, picking up six wins, two draws and five losses from their opening 13 league games.
They have netted 19 goals in the process, meaning only four teams in the Spanish top flight have scored more.
Veteran striker Radamel Falcao has impressive since arriving in the summer. The 35-year-old Colombian has bagged five goals in eight La Liga outings this term.
Vallecano are currently enjoying a six-game unbeaten streak on home soil in La Liga. They will be confident of avoiding defeat when off-form Mallorca come to town.
It is also worth noting that Vallecano have kept four clean sheets in six home games this term, conceding just two goals along the way.
On the flip side, Mallorca have failed to win any of their past five matches – recording four draws and one defeat in that time.
After losing only one of their opening five games this season, they have now won just one of their previous ten.
Mallorca have conceded 19 goals this term, meaning they have the joint-third worst defensive record in the division.
Although Mallorca have managed to score in each of their previous four outings, they have failed to get the better of their opponents during that period.
Head-to-head: Rayo Vallecano have only managed to win four of their last 16 meetings with Mallorca across all competitions.
That said, Vallecano have lost just two of their past six encounters with Mallorca – picking up three wins and a draw along the way.
Team news: Rayo Vallecano have no injury concerns ahead of Monday’s clash, although Oscar Trejo and Santi Comesana are at risk of suspension.
As for Mallorca, they will be without injured duo Antonio Raillo (ankle) and Takefusa Kubo (meniscal) for the trip to the capital.
Given that Mallorca have only managed to win one of their last ten games, all the signs point towards a comfortable home victory on Monday.
Forebet predicts that Rayo Vallecano will score over 1.5 goals on their way to victory, keeping yet another clean sheet on home soil.
