Angers will be seeking to return to winning ways on Sunday afternoon when they play host to lowly Lorient at their Stade Raymond-Kopa as the hosts also look to stay in touch with the top five pack in Ligue 1.
Recent defeats to PSG and Nice have outweighed the points picked up in draws with Saint-Etienne and Lille in 2-2 and 1-1 draws respectively but Angers do have a great opportunity to grab all three points this Sunday against 13th placed Lorient.

Results have been mixed for Angers so far in this season’s Ligue 1 campaign but the hosts have suffered just three defeats this term within their 13 matches overall while also picking up four wins in the process as well as being involved in six draws.
Three wins out of their opening six home games this season also gives Angers a decent chance of earning all three points this Sunday after beating the likes of 7th placed Lyon, 5th placed Rennes and also basement dwellers, Metz.
Lorient still occupy a bottom half position in 13th place in Ligue 1 having failed to win any of their last six matches overall in the French top flight which includes three defeats and three draws.
Although Lorient have picked up points in draws with Lyon, Clermont and Bordeaux they’ve also been handed defeats by Marseille 4-1, Strasbourg 4-0 and a 2-1 loss to Brest.
Lorient have gained three league wins to date this season with victories collected against Monaco, Lille and Nice but it’s worth mentioning that all of these three victories were achieved on home turf at their Stade Yves Allainmat - Le Moustoir while wins on the road have continued to elude the visitors.
Indeed, Lorient have struggled for away wins in the French top flight for some time as the visitors have failed to win any of their last 22 matches on their travels, while also keeping just two clean sheets at the back in these 22 away games as well.
In addition, Lorient have failed to score in a third of these 22 away games having failed to hit the back of the net on seven occasions, so this could be another tough encounter with the visitors’ best chance appearing to be a draw.
Both Angers and Lorient could cancel each other out in this one.
