Poland and Hungary will both be looking to end their World Cup qualifying campaigns on a high when they go head-to-head in Warsaw on Monday night.

Poland sit second in Group I – three points behind first-place England and five points ahead of third-place Albania.

Meanwhile, Hungary find themselves fourth – six points shy of Poland. Marco Rossi’s men can longer qualify for the main event in Qatar next year.

Poland head into Monday’s clash on the back of a 4-1 victory over Andorra. Unsurprisingly, Robert Lewandowski bagged a brace on Friday.

The Bayern Munich striker has now bagged 74 goals in 128 appearances for his country, along with 27 assists.

Poland have lost just one of their nine qualifiers in this campaign, picking up six wins and two draws along the way.

They come into the final round on a three-match winning streak, having beaten San Marino and Albania before last week’s win over Andorra.

Poland haven’t lost any of their last 11 qualifiers on home soil and have scored at least one goal in each of their previous 14.

On the flip side, Hungary have only managed to win four of their nine qualifiers – recording two draws and three losses in the process.

They claimed an easy 4-0 victory over San Marino last time out, though, with Dominik Szoboszlai scoring twice.

It is worth pointing out, however, that Hungary have won just two of their past ten matches across all competitions.

On a brighter note, the Hungarians have only lost one of their previous nine away games in all competitions.

Head-to-head: Poland have only lost one of their last nine meetings with Hungary, picking up five wins and three draws along the way.

The two sides produced a thrilling 3-3 draw in the reverse fixture back in March. Poland came from 2-0 down to rescue a point in Budapest on that occasion.

Team news: Poland duo Jan Bednarek and Tymoteusz Puchacz are set to return on Monday after missing the previous game through suspension.

As for Hungary, RB Leipzig pair Willi Orban and Peter Gulacsi are injured. That means Denes Dibusz is likely to deputise between the sticks.

Poland have netted a whopping 29 goals in nine qualifiers. With that in mind, they shouldn’t struggle to dispatch Hungary.

Forebet predicts that Poland will score over 2.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to victory on Monday.
