Poland to poleaxe Andorra in UEFA World Cup qualifying Group I
    10/11/21 2125

Poland are chasing England for first place in World Cup 2022 qualifying Group I. The Polish team is just three points back of England.

The Three Lions have a tricky home fixture versus Albania to play on Thursday and Poland will be hoping the English slip up once more.

Paulo Sousa’s team has taken 17 points from 24 on offer in qualifying. They aren’t just chasing England for first place, but trying to hold off Albania for second place.

Andorra can play the unlikely part of spoiler on Thursday night. The Andorrans are fifth in Group I and have been eliminated from progressing further in qualifying.Andorra have taken six points from 24 on offer scoring seven goals and allowing 19.

After a poor Euro 2020 tournament, Poland are on a roll in World Cup 2022 qualifying. Poland are unbeaten in five straight qualifiers and are coming off of October wins versus San Marino (5-0) and Albania (1-0).

Poland do had a difficult match on the final day of World Cup 2022 qualifying group play. They will host Hungary, who have already been eliminated, but will want to finish the qualifying campaign strongly.

Sousa’s team tops Group I in scoring with 25 goals. Poland have allowed the third-fewest goals with eight. Six of Poland’s eight World Cup Gorup I qualifiers finished with more than 2.5 goals scored.

Andorra are coming off of a 3-0 win over San Marino. However, the victory, their second against San Marino in qualifying, was against Group I’s worst team. The Andorrans’ last four matches all ended with over 2.5 goals scored.

Sousa has the team’s big-three attackers in the squad for the international break. Robert Lewandowski, Arkadiusz Milik, and Krzysztof Piątek are likely to each play some part in the match.

When these teams played in March during World Cup qualifying, Lewandowski scored twice and forward Karol Świderski added a third in Poland’s 3-0 win. Sousa has no fresh injuries and will play his strongest side available.

Andorra coach Koldo Álvarez could experiment with the side as progression to the next stage is impossible. Quality is lacking in the side as a majority of the team plays domestic football in Andorra.

Thirty-seven-year-old captain Márcio Vieira could earn his 109th cap. Marcu Pujol and Sergi Moreno are both seeking to add to their goals tally after scoring versus San Marino last month.

Like the reverse fixture between these teams, Poland should have little difficult gaining a win versus Andorra.

The match should see over 2.5 goals scored and it wouldn’t be a surprise for Lewandowski to score two or more goals once more versus Andorra.
