On Wednesday night, Santos hope RB Bragantino at the Estadio Urbano Caldeira, in a game that could have big ramifications at both ends of the Serie A table.
Santos are having a season to forget, as the Black and White’s are 16th place in Serie A, just five points clear of the relegation zone.
However, they do have a game in hand on 17th place Sport Recife. On the flip side, 18th place Juventude have played a game fewer than the side from Sao Paulo.
The home team have really struggled for league wins of late, winning just three of their last 16 Serie A matches. A 2-0 home defeat by Palmeiras last time out means that Fabio Carille’s team has lost three of their last six matches in Serie A.
The game was another tight and low-scoring affair for Santos, as seven of their previous eight league matches have produced under 2.5 goals.
Santos’ recent home form has played a big part in their lowly position in the table, as the Peixe’s have won just two of their last nine home games in Serie A.
RB Bragantino are fourth-place in Serie A, occupying the last Copa Libertadores berth for next season. However, the visitors are just a point above fifth-place Fortaleza, who have a game in hand on the team from Sao Paulo.
The visitor’s chances of sealing a top-four spot in the Brazilian top-flight has been hindered by two straight league defeats against Cuiaba and Athletico Paranaense.
Their recent away record has not helped their chances of sealing a place in the Copa Libertadores for next season either, as Bragantino have won just one of their previous six away games in the Brazilian top-flight.
Forebet predicts that RB Bragantino will boost their top-four hopes while leaving Santos still in a precarious position in the table.
