Inter Milan will be in desperate need of three points when they arrive at the San Siro this weekend to play hosts to a Udinese side that are struggling for any sort of form down at the bottom end of the table.
We’re at a point in the season where we are seeing title challengers across Europe gradually drop off as the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Juventus are seeing themselves fighting for European spots rather than the trophy itself.
With Inter, however, they are chasing down their local rivals and a Napoli side that just can’t seem to lose in Italy at the moment and with seven points separating Simeone Inzaghi’s men and the Naples outfit, a win here is a must.
So far, the champions of Italy are seeing their title slip away and any more dropped points might be too much to overcome later in the campaign. Currently, Inter are on 21 points having won six of their 10 games so far, losing to only Lazio and drawing with Juventus, Atalanta, and Sampdoria.
In a nutshell, the only major issue for Inter this season seems to be when they come up against ‘bigger clubs’, as they seem to be disposing of those fighting in the bottom half in relatively easy fashion.
In fact, after beating Empoli 2-0 in midweek, Inzaghi’s side are currently the highest scorers in Serie A with 26 goals in just 10 games while they have also conceded just 12 goals.
It does mean they’ve conceded a few more goals than they did this time last season, but nothing can take away from their goalscoring brilliance in a year where they lost their talisman, Romelu Lukaku.
Udinese, on the other hand, are struggling again during the early stages of this Serie A campaign. Currently, the club are hovering above the drop zone by only four points and any more defeats for them and it could end up being a tricky winter period for them.
Nevertheless, they have only lost three of the 10 games played so far, so it isn’t entirely doom and gloom and there is clear room for improvement. Moreover, Udinese have only let in 14 goals so far and this is less than clubs like Lazio and just one more than Juventus.
Regardless, they are still fighting down at the bottom while Inter are challenging for another title and with this in mind, Forebet predicts an easy win for Inter and a game that will see over 2.5 goals.
