Czech Republic to Narrowly Edge Past Belarus in Group E

Belarus will welcome the Czech Republic to the Dinamo Stadium in an attempt to try and salvage something from Group E with their chances of progressing looking very slim, while the Czechs have everything to play for.

Belarus, along with Estonia, are the team that seems to take much of the beating from the powerhouses in this European World Cup Qualifiers group, and after losing to Estonia, Belarus are potentially going to finish bottom of the group.

Three points for them is unlikely with the Czech Republic themselves battling it out with Wales for the second spot in the group as Belgium ease towards qualification.

The Red Devils, as expected, have barely slipped up in their attempt to secure a ticket to Qatar 2022 and it is simply a case of who will finish second right now.

Prior to this international break, you have to track all the way back to March 27th to find Belarus' first win of the group where they beat Estonia 4-2.

More worryingly, however, was the fact they managed to concede two goals to the team expected to finish bottom of the group and then lose to them 2-0 recently.

The nation would then fall to an 8-0 defeat to Belgium soon after, and their woes were further condemned when they narrowly lost to Wales through a Gareth Bale hat-trick. The Welshman scored in the 93rd minute that day after Belarus led 2-1 for much of the game.

That result for Georgi Kondratiev’s men all but summed up their results and form in Group E, but a narrow 1-0 defeat to the group leaders Belgium may have given them slight hope.

As for the Czech Republic, their form over the last year has been relatively decent. At Euro 2020, they eased past Scotland with a 2-0 win, drew with Croatia, and only narrowly lost to England through a Raheem Sterling early goal.

More notably, they managed to brush past the Netherlands in the knockout rounds with the Czech Republic managing to beat them 2-0 thanks to goals again from Patrik Shick and Tomas Holes. Their fate was met, however, when they lost to Denmark in the quarter-finals.

Back in qualification for Qatar 2022, the Czechs still have a chance to do so as the second spot is wide open with Belgium running away with top spot in Group E and after taking a point off Wales last time out.

However, Forebet predicts they will just about edge this one here with a showing of under 2.5 goals.
