CAF World Cup qualifying Group G goes into matchday 3 on Saturday as Ghana host Zimbabwe.

The Ghanaians go into the match with three points from six in World Cup qualifying thanks to a 1-0 win over Ethiopia thanks to a goal from Mubarak Wakaso.

The Black Stars followed up their win against Ethiopia with a 1-0 loss to South Africa. Now, Ghana need a strong performance to defeat Zimbabwe and keep pace with Group G leader South Africa.

Zimbabwe have taken just one point from six on offer in Group G. The team claimed a nil-nil draw with South Africa before losing 1-0 to Ethiopia.

Going into matchday 3 of Group G, the team are evenly matched and as it stands, anything can happen.

Ghana and Zimbabwe have played six times in their history. The Black Stars have posted a record of 3W-2D-1L over the course of that time. These teams have not met since 2006 and Zimbabwe claimed a surprise 2-1 win on that occasion.

Plymouth Argyle player Brendan Galloway could make his debut for the Zimbabwe national team. Zimbabwe should play a 4-2-3-1 formation. The team’s lone striker should be captain Knowledge Musona.

Richard Ofori was left out of the Ghana squad despite playing in net against South Africa. Goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi should get the start in goal for Ofori.

Mohammed Kudus is available for selection following a groin injury. The Ajax midfielder missed the team’s fixtures in September.

The Ghana squad features several players from big clubs in Europe. Arsenal Midfielder Thomas Partey, Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew, and Leicester City defender Daniel Amartey are all in the side to play against Zimbabwe.

Compared to Ghana, Zimbabwe are short on talent from top leagues in Europe. Although manager Zdravko Logarušić has several players from English Championship clubs.

Musona is Zimbabwe’s most skilled goalscorer. The Al-Tai forward has scored 23 goals in 47 matches for the Zimbabwe national team previously. Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Khama Billiat has scored 17 international goals.

Ghana have been excellent against Zimbabwe over the course of their previous meetings. The teams have not met since 2006, however. Still, Ghana should claim a narrow win over Zimbabwe in a low-scoring game.

The Black Stars’ last four games all finished with both teams not scoring and under 2.5 goals scored.

Saturday’s game between Ghana and Zimbabwe should finish with under 2.5 goals scored. Ghana should continue their good form against Zimbabwe with a win to nil.
