Bolivia and Peru are both in need of points as they prepare to face off in South American World Cup qualifying on Sunday.

The two nations find themselves in the bottom four of the ten-team group, with seventh-place Peru sitting five points ahead of ninth-place Bolivia.

Peru are only one point behind sixth-place Paraguay, while Bolivia sit two points ahead of last-place Venezuela.

Bolivia head into Sunday’s clash on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Ecuador on Thursday, with all three goals coming in the opening 19 minutes.

La Verde faced 17 shots and saw just 32% possession last time out, while they only managed four attempts of their own.

Bolivia have now failed to win any of their last eight games in all competitions and have lost six of their previous seven.

They also have the worst defensive record in the group, having conceded a whopping 25 goals in ten games (2.5 goals per game).

Peru, on the other hand, claimed a solid 2-0 victory over Chile in midweek, despite seeing just 41% of the ball.

Goals from Christian Cueva and Sergio Pena sealed all three points for the Peruvians, handing them their third victory of the qualifying campaign.

Peru have only lost one of their previous four games, picking up two wins and a draw during that period.

It is also worth pointing out that each of their past four games have produced under 2.5 goals, with three of those dishing up exactly two goals.

Head-to-head: Bolivia and Peru have faced each other 51 times in all competitions, with the Peruvians winning on 26 occasions. Bolivia have only managed 13 wins, while the other 12 meetings were drawn.

Bolivia's last win over Peru came back in 2008. Since then, there have been five wins for Peru, along with four draws.

Peru head into Sunday’s clash on a four-match winning streak against Bolivia, having scored over 2.5 goals in three occasions in that time.

Team news: Bolivia head coach Cesar Farias has called up a host of uncapped players to his squad, although captain Marcelo Moreno – who has 87 caps under his belt – is also there.

Peru’s spine is made up of goalkeeper Pedro Gallese, defender Luis Advincula, midfielder Yoshimar Yotun and forward Paolo Guerrero – who have almost 400 caps between them.

Having defeat Chile last time out, Peru will be confident of claiming all three points when they visit Bolivia.

Forebet predicts that Peru will score over 2.5 goals on their way to sealing a relatively comfortable victory.
