Brazil will be looking to maintain their 100% record in World Cup qualifying when they visit Colombia on Sunday.

The Brazilians sit eight points clear at the top of the South American group, having claimed nine wins from their opening nine games.

Colombia, on the other hand, find themselves fifth in the standings – 13 points behind high-flying Brazil.

The Colombians have only managed to win three of their ten qualifiers, picking up five draws and two losses along the way.

Although they are the third-highest scorers in the group, they also have the fourth-worst defensive record.

Still, it is worth pointing out that Colombia head into Sunday’s clash on a five-game unbeaten streak in all competitions.

Following a goalless draw with Uruguay in midweek, they have taken two wins and three draws from their past five outings.

Brazil left it late to secure victory over Venezuela on Thursday, but they eventually broke down a stubborn backline.

The Brazilians were trailing until the 71st minute, before goals from Marquinhos, Gabriel Barbosa and Antony sealed the deal.

Not only are Brazil the top scorers in the group with 22 goals, but they also boast the best defensive record, having conceded a measly three goals.

When you look at the bigger picture, Brazil have only lost one of their previous 17 encounters all competitions – and that was the 2021 Copa America final.

They have also won 15 of their last 17 matches, with just a single draw coming during that period – underlining their dominance.

Head-to-head: Across 33 meetings in all competitions, Colombia have only managed to beat Brazil on three occasions.

Meanwhile, the Brazilians have claimed 20 wins in this fixture, with the other ten encounters ending in a draw.

Brazil are unbeaten in their last five meetings with Colombia and have scored over 2.5 goals three times during that period.

Team news: Colombia’s squad is packed with big-name players, including Radamel Falcao, Duvan Zapata, Juan Cuadrado and David Ospina. Elsewhere, Yerson Candelo and Aldair Quintana are uncapped.

Although Brazil’s Premier League contingent have been given the green light to travel, Everton’s Richarlison and Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino will not feature due to injury.

Antony (Ajax) and Raphina (Leeds United) could make their second appearances after debuting in midweek, while Gabriel Jesus is expected to lead the line.

Although Brazil boast a 100% record in the CONMEBOL WCQ group, Colombia nearly away perform well on home soil.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Colombia will hold Brazil to a low-scoring draw on Sunday.
