Newcastle United will go in search of their first Premier League win of the season when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Saturday afternoon.

Having registered three draws and three losses in their opening six games, Steve Bruce’s men currently sit seventeenth in the table.

Wolves, meanwhile, have picked up two wins and four defeats so far and find themselves fourteenth – three points ahead of Newcastle.

The Wanderers lost their first three league games under new head coach Bruno Lage, falling to Leicester, Tottenham, and Man Utd without scoring a single goal.

Lage's side then picked up their first win of the season on Matchday 4, beating Watford 2-0 at Vicarage Road.

Wolves returned to losing ways on Matchday 5, losing 2-0 Brentford. However, they beat Southampton 1-0 on Sunday to move clear of the bottom three.

Having netted just three goals in six Premier League games this term, Wolves are the second-lowest scorers in the division.

They have also failed to score in each of their previous three home games in the league and have only managed to win one of their last seven in all competitions at Molineux.

After taking just three points from a possible 18 this term, it’s safe to say Newcastle have made a dreadful start to the campaign.

That said, recent signs suggest they are beginning to turn things around. Having lost their opening two games, they have only lost one of their previous four.

It is worth remembering, however, that Bruce’s boys have yet to win a single game in all competitions this season.

As a result, they find themselves fourth from bottom in the standings with the joint-second worst defensive record in the league.

Head-to-head: Each of the previous five Premier League meetings between Wolves and Newcastle have ended in a draw.

Newcastle are also unbeaten in their last seven away games against Wolves. On top of that, the Magpies have only lost one of their last 12 league meetings with the Wanderers.

Team news: Wolves will be without the injured quartet of Pedro Netto, Jonny, Yerson Mosquera and Hugo Bueno and Saturday.

As for Newcastle, Jonjo Shelvey, Callum Wilson, Martin Dubravka, Jamaal Lascelles and Paul Dummett are all sidelined through injury.

Given that each of the previous five league meetings between Wolves and Newcastle have ended level, the two sides are expected to play out another tight games this time around.

Considering the hosts’ bluntness in attack, Forebet predicts that Wolves and Newcastle will produce a low-scoring draw at Molineux.
