Roma will welcome Udinese to the Italian capital this Thursday as the club look to continue their excellent start in Serie A following their first taste of defeat this campaign.
The Rome outfit were starved of any sort of hope last season of progressing and ending up back amongst the elite in Italy as they finished seventh and now ply their trade in the Europa Conference League in what is perhaps a competition a little too unknown for a club this size.
However, since Jose Mourinho joined the club just days after leaving Tottenham Hotspur, fans started to hope once more and all that has been optimized by their fantastic start to the new season with the Portuguese legend only slipping up recently.
Mourinho managed to secure three wins from the first three games in Serie A as they beat Sassuolo, Salernitana and Fiorentina, scoring nine goals and letting in just two, which is a real Mourinho-esque way of handling things.
The ex-Manchester United man also overcame CSKA Sofia 5-1 in the Europa Conference League, but Roma did slip up against Hellas Verona recently in a 3-2 defeat, which stunned them and the rest of Serie A.
Nevertheless, they have a game in hand on some of those above them and there is absolutely no need to panic in Rome.
What makes Roma more of a worry for the opposing sides is also their ability to live on in positivity without the brilliance of Edin Dzeko, who left for Inter Milan.
Lorenzo Pellegrini has managed to score six times in seven games already, while Jordan Veretout and Stephen El Shaarawy have three each, just as Tammy Abraham brought two goals in his first two games for the club.
As for Udinese, they have had a topsy-turvy start to the season heading into this game off the back of another disappointing campaign. They are down in ninth, and with two wins, a draw and a defeat, the club needs to pick up some more points.
Udinese were thrashed 4-0 by Napoli last time out, but prior to this, they had conceded just two goals in three games and scored six of their own. They will now be hoping this is a mere blip, rather than the start of another mid-table battle.
Given this form from Udinese and the form shown by Mourinho’s men, Forebet only sees one winner and it is expected that Roma will get the job done and see over 2.5 goals in the game.
