Wolverhampton Wanderers are third in the Premier League in shots taken with 57 after three games. Despite having tallied so many shots, Wolverhampton Wanderers are yet to score a goal under new manager Bruno Lage.

On Saturday, Wolves visit Vicarage Road to play Watford. The Hornets have taken three points from nine this term, but are on a two-match losing streak. After defeating Aston Villa 3-2 on opening day, Watford have lost back-to-back games and were outscored 3-0.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have conceded just three times across three games this season. Lage’s team have lost 1-0 in each of their three games.

These teams played five times between 2018 and 2020 in all competitions. They split the games with two wins apiece and a draw. The last time the clubs played in the Premier League in 2019-20, Watford claimed a 2-1 home win against Wolves.

Watford manager Xisco Munoz has four players on the injury list. Goalkeeper Ben Foster is a doubt due to a thigh injury. Dan Gosling should be fit following an illness. Kiko Femenia is ruled out due to a lack of fitness.

Xisco could have forward Joao Pedro back from a knee injury. Watford could certainly use his goalscorign and creativity. Francisco Sierralta Carvallo is ruled out due to FIFA’s five-day ban Premier League teams face for not letting South American players to meet up with their international teams.

Lage will be without Mexico’s Raul Jimenez due to the FIFA five-day ban. Jonny Otto is ruled out with a long-term knee injury. Pedro Neto is also ruled out with a long-term knee problem. Hugo Bueno has a hamstring injury which will keep him out of the game.

Watford have not scored in either of their last two matches. Xisco should start Ismalia Sarr in attack possibly with Josh King. Moussa Sissoko signed from Tottenham Hotspur before the transfer window closed and could start in midfield.

Lage was able to sign a much-needed striker before the window’s closure as Hee-chan Hwang joined Wolves from RB Leipzig. The South Korean could start with Jimenez banned from playing at Vicarage Road. Hwang and Adama Traore could be the new goalscoring combo at Molineux.

Wolves are struggling in the final third but could find the back of the net for the first time at Vicarage Road. Playing at home should benefit Watford, however. Seven of matchday 3’s 10 games ended in wins or draws for the home team.

Home-field advantage has been significant for teams in the Premier League in 2021-22. Watford should claim a victory with both teams scoring goals and over 2.5 goals scored.
