UD Almería come into the match having suffered their first defeat of the season last weekend at Amorebieta. UD Almería took the lead after only 3 minutes and it appeared as though they were going to take control of the game but conceded an equalising goal 12 minutes later. UD Almería were then reduced to ten men having had Lucas Robertone sent off in the 18th minute. Amorebieta struggled to break down the UD Almería defence but scored the winning goal in the 86th minute.
UD Almería started the season with a 3-1 victory at FC Cartagena before defeating Real Oviedo 2-1 at home.
