Denmark host Scotland on Wednesday night at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen. Kasper Hjulmand’s team is looking to rebound after losing to England in the Euro 2020 semifinals courtesy of a controversial penalty.

Scotland are also seeking to rebound after the Euro 2020 tournament. It wasn’t a great summer for the Scots who managed a mere point from nine in the group stage at the Euros. Despite failing to win a game at the Euros, Scotland are improving under manager Steve Clarke.

Denmark have taken nine points from nine on offer in World Cup qualifying Group F. The Danes have not conceded a goal and scored 14 times. Two of Denmark’s three games in the group stage finished with over 2.5 goals scored.

Scotland have taken five points from nine on offer. They too are yet to lose in the group stage with two games ending in draws and one in a victory. Scotland’s draws came against Austria (2-2) and Israel (1-1). Their lone victory was against the Faroe Islands (4-0).

Danish midfielder Philip Billing has pulled out of the squad due to illness. Hjulmand will be without Barcelona forward Martin Braithwaite after the player suffered a knee injury against Getafe last weekend.

Hjulmand will choose from the attacking trio of Yussuf Poulsen, Kasper Dolberg, and Mikkel Damsgaard. The manager plays with two forwards and going off of form, is likely to select Dolberg and Damsgaard.

Dolberg has played brilliantly his season for Ligue 1’s Nice. Denmark captain Simon Kjaer and defenders Andreas Christensen and Joachim Andersen are likely to play in defence.

Clarke is without a number of first-team players for the game in Copenhagen. Celtic duo James Forrest and Greg Taylor are unavailable due to injury. Midfielders Scott McTominay and Stuart Armstrong are also ruled out of the game due to their own injury issues.

Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn and Ranger’s player Nathan Patterson are unavailable. Both players are in isolation. McGinn tested positive for coronavirus and is away from the squad. Patterson is ruled out after being in close contact with a person that tested positive for coronavirus.

Denmark’s form and Scotland’s missing first-team players should lead to a home win this week in Copenhagen. Denmark should have another excellent game in World Cup qualifying Group F. The Danes are playing well and should continue that form.

Like Denmark’s last two matches, this one should see over 2.5 goals scored as Scotland struggle to keep the home team out of goal.
