Nottingham Forest will welcome Blackburn Rovers to the City Ground as part of the Wednesday fixtures in the Championship as the second tier gets through its first set of midweek fixtures in what has been a chaotic start to the season.

Both sides struggled last weekend with Forest losing 2-1 to Bournemouth, just as Blackburn needed a goal late on from star man Ben Brereton against Millwall, who has seemingly continued from where he left off in 2020/21.

It’s now two goals in two games for the Chile international, with Blackburn also beating Swansea City on the opening weekend in what was a very professional and astutely crafted tactical game by Tony Mowbray’s men.

As for Forest, Chris Hughton’s side did manage to see much of the ball when they played the Cherries last time out, with 15 efforts coming towards Bournemouth’s goal.

However, ultimately, they were outdone by the class of the Bournemouth players and it’s now two defeats from two for them.

On the opening weekend, Forest also lost in a shocking defeat to Coventry City, as Kyle McFadzean scored in the 96th minute to secure all three points for them, after Lyle Taylor gave the Nottingham outfit the lead in the first half.

Once again, it was another dismal display from Forest who have started the Championship season worse than almost everybody.

Blackburn, however, were also very lacklustre last weekend as they drew 1-1 with Millwall.

Mowbray’s side ended the game with just two shots compared to Millwall’s 15 and they also had just 39% of the ball on what was a very tough away day for them.

Blackburn also lost to Morecambe in the EFL Cup just four days prior to drawing at The Den, as a slightly weakened side succumbed to a Morecambe team that brought their best. It’s now made it a slightly topsy-turvy start to the season for them.

If this game were to happen earlier in 2021, there may have only been one winner. However, Forest’s poor display against Bournemouth was a worrying sight for the travelling fans and it is tough to see how they get the job done here as well.

Add into the equation the torrid display away to Coventry, and we now see only one winner here. Forebet predicts Blackburn will reign supreme here and build on what was a lacklustre but decent point at The Den last time out.
