Switzerland’s FC Basel claimed a commanding lead in their Europa Conference League second qualifying round first leg match versus Partizani.
Now, head coach Patrick Rahmen will aim to win the second leg and send FC Basel into the third qualifying round.

Albania’s Partizani fell 3-0 to FC Basel in the first leg and now need at least three goals without conceding to have any hope of progressing. The gulf in quality showed in the first leg and it is likely to do once more when these team meet on Thursday night at the Elbasan Arena.
FC Basel kicked off their Swiss Super League season at the weekend between Europa Conference League matches with Partizani. The Red and Blue claimed a 2-0 win over Grasshopper on the road.
Rahmen will hope FC Basel forward Valentin Stocker can step up once more in the second leg. Stocker scored twice against Partizani on either side of halftime. Arthur Cabral added another goal for FC Basel to ease them to victory.
FC Basel were very active in the transfer market this summer. They signed the likes of defenders Michael Lang from Borussia Monchengladbach, Andy Pelmard from Nice on loan, and Real Madrid’s Sergio Lopez.
Forward Liam Miller also arrived from Liverpool for £1.3 million and striker Sebastiano Esposito from Inter Milan on loan. The club have worked hard this summer to bring in talent to fight for the Swiss Super League title.
The club are interested in adding more players this summer. Thanks to the new UEFA Europa Conference League tournament, FC Basel’s hierarchy will believe a piece of European silverware could come their way.
Rahmen is unlikely to have defender Andrea Padula available for the game. Padula is recovering from a knee injury and is due back soon.
Partizani came through the first qualifying round of the Europa Conference League. They defeated Sfintul Gheorghe by an aggregate scoreline of 8-4.
Based on the team’s first qualifying round tie, Partizani and FC Basel should both find the back of the net on Thursday night. In addition, the teams should combine for over 2.5 goals scored.
FC Basel should claim a win once more versus Partizani with the team’s forwards getting the most of the Albanians defence again.
Rahmen took over in April of last season amid chaos at FC Basel. Now, with Rahmen in place, the team could do well in the Europa League Conference.
