Atletico MG and Atletico GO to meet in Serie A midtable clash

Atletico MG go into matchday 8 of the Brazilian Serie A season on the back of three matches without a win.

Manager Cuca has watched the side lose back-to-back league fixtures to Ceara and Santos, ending what had been a brilliant start to the campaign.

On Thursday, Atletico MG host Atletico GO at the Estadio Raimundo Sampaio. Atletico MG go into the game in eighth place after taking 10 points from 21 possible.

Atletico GO are seventh in the standings and have also taken 10 points with six games played already.

Cuca’s team will play at the comforts of home on Thursday at a ground in which four points from nine have been obtained this term. They are unbeaten in their last two home fixtures thanks to a 1-0 win versus Sao Paulo and a 1-1 draw with Chapecoense.

Atletico GO go into the game with three points from six on the road. They have a zero-goal difference away from home having scored twice and conceded two times.

The Rooster are on a six-match unbeaten run versus Atletico GO in Serie A dating back to 2012. The last four matches between the teams all ended in wins for Atletico MG.

Cuca has a long list of absentees at Atletico MG. A coronavirus outbreak has hit the squad and ruled out Eduardo Sasha, Dylan Borrero, Nathan De Souza, Ignacio Fernandez, Marrony, and Micael.

Midfielder Allan Rodrigues de Souza will miss out the game due to a one-game suspension.

Striker Hulk will be counted on to get the goals for the Rooster. He has two scores in seven Serie A matches. Atletico GO are missing players too. The club will be without Joao Paulo and Ronald due to injuries.
