As we approach the halfway point in the 2023-24 season, Europe’s top goalscorers are battling it out in the race for the Golden Shoe award.
With the new year just around the corner, Forebet takes a closer look at the leading scorers across Europe’s top five leagues, celebrating the continent’s deadliest marksmen.
To say that Harry Kane has taken the Bundesliga by storm would be a colossal understatement. Indeed, the lethal striker has scored 21 goals in 15 league games for Bayern Munich following his summer move from Tottenham Hotspur.

The England captain has already notched three hat-tricks and three braces in the Bundesliga. As a result, Kane boasts a three-goal cushion at the summit of the Golden Shoe standings.
Unsurprisingly, Kylian Mbappe occupies second place on the Golden Shoe leaderboard. The Paris Saint-Germain superstar has netted 18 goals in 16 Ligue 1 appearances this term, extending his remarkable scoring record.
After bagging four braces, Mbappe registered his first hat-trick of the campaign in November. Since then, the 25-year-old has scored five goals in as many games to keep the pressure on Kane.
While Mbappe’s inclusion isn’t a surprise, very few people expected to see Serhou Guirassy’s name in the top three at the turn of the year.
The VfB Stuttgart striker has been a revelation this season, scoring 17 goals in 14 Bundesliga appearances. He even managed to net 14 goals across the opening eight matches before sustaining a hamstring injury.
With 17 games in the books, Inter Milan find themselves four points clear of second-placed Juventus and 11 points ahead of AC Milan in Serie A. Why? Because Lautaro Martinez has been on fire!
Martinez has bagged 15 goals in 16 league outings this season, putting him six goals clear of Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi in the Capocannoniere standings. The Argentine even scored four goals in a single game against Salernitana back in September.
Last season, Erling Haaland smashed countless records on his way to clinching both the Premier League Golden Boot and European Golden Shoe, racking up 36 goals in 35 league appearances.
Despite missing several games due to injury this term, Haaland has scored 14 goals in 15 Premier League matches. When the “Striking Viking” returns from injury, he will set his sights on chasing down Kane.
