Wolfsburg ended a run of poor form a week ago with a shock 2-1 win over RB Leipzig. The win ended a five-game winless streak.
Three of the last six games between Mainz and Freiburg ended in stalemates. The last two fixtures between the clubs played at Mainz finished in draws.
Freiburg failed to win against Mainz away in their last three trips to the MEWA Arena. The team will begin the weekend in poor form and winless in four straight Bundesliga games. Freiburg were outscored 23-15 in their opening 12 matches.
Mainz are 16th and in the relegation-playoff place. They did go unbeaten in their last four games, but three of those matches were draws. Mainz picked up four points from 15 on offer at home.
Eintracht Frankfurt went unbeaten in their last six matches in all competitions against Augsburg. Last season, the Eagles won 2-1 away from home before drawing 1-1 in Frankfurt.
Augsburg are having a steady season and sit midtable. They went unbeaten in their last five league matches, with two wins and three draws. Those three draws have come in consecutive matches.
Eintracht Frankfurt are seventh and six points off the top four. The Eagles fell 2-1 to Stuttgart a week ago, ending a five-match unbeaten streak. Frankfurt scored just 18 goals in their opening 12 games.
