Arsenal looked destined to clinch the 2022-23 Premier League title, but a late-season slump saw Mikel Arteta’s side surrender to Manchester City. Can the Gunners go one better this time around?

Arsenal’s last Premier League triumph came back in 2003-04 under legendary manager Arsene Wenger.
Last season, the Gunners threatened to end their title drought. In 2023-24, Arteta’s men will be determined to lift the trophy.
After winning 16 of their opening 19 matches last term – suffering a solitary defeat in the process – Arsenal looked set to end Manchester City’s hegemony over the English top flight.
However, the Gunners’ season ultimately ended in a disappointment. Following a run of three wins, three draws and three losses across the final nine matches, Arteta’s side finished five points shy of Man City.
Having spent the majority of the previous campaign at the Premier League summit, Arsenal will be bitterly disappointed to have thrown it away. However, Gunners fans have plenty of reasons for optimism.
It’s safe to say that Arteta has wasted no time in strengthening his squad this summer. Not only have Arsenal signed Declan Rice in a record-breaking £105m deal, but they have also signed Kaid Havertz and Jurrien Timber.
Bukayo Saka notched 15 goals and 11 assists in all competitions last season, while Martin Odegaard chipped in with 15 goals and eight assists from midfield.
Plus, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli added to Arsenal’s attacking contributions.
At the opposite end of the pitch, goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is now regarded as one of the best stoppers in the league, while William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes are among the division’s top centre-backs.
With young stars such as Emile Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson, Jakub Kiwior and Fabio Vieira on the fringes of the squad, Arteta has no shortage of top-quality options at his disposal.
After falling short last season, Arsenal’s aim for 2023-24 is simple: go one better and secure the Premier League silverware.
Of course, stopping Manchester City will not be easy. Not only have Guardiola’s side won each of the last three Premier League titles, but they have also won five of the previous six.
That said, Arsenal’s young squad will have learned from the mistakes of last season. With valuable experience in the bank, the Gunners will be eager to lift the trophy in 2023-24.
