Chelsea announced the exit of boss Maurizio Sarri to Italian giants Juventus.

The former Napoli head coach has signed a three-year deal with the Bianconeri after the two clubs agreed a reported compensation fee of around £5million. The move had been a few weeks in the making after the exit of Massimiliano Allegri from the Turin club.

The 60-year-old boss guided Chelsea to victory in the Europa League while finishing third-place in the English top-flight to seal the team’s return to the Champions League for next season.

Sarri’s only season in English football was a successful one. However, despite guiding the team to success, the Italian was a less than popular figure at Stamford Bridge. The experienced boss’ style of play failed to impress the club’s fans, so his exit this summer has not come as a major surprise.

The move to the dominant force in Italian football Juventus is Sarri’s reward for his years of developing his football philosophy and hard work. He showed his managerial acumen during his days at hometown club Napoli, where he came close to knocking Juventus off their perch in Serie A.

Sarri had failed to win a trophy until the May triumph in the Europa League. The experienced boss will get many more chances to win silverware back in his homeland with the Bianconeri.

He leaves the Blues with a difficult summer ahead. They have already lost talisman Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, while the Blues are currently banned from transfers for the next two transfer windows.

Maurizio Sarri is no doubt a top coach and Chelsea are among the most high-profile clubs in the Premier League. However, the 60-year-old’s time in the English capital proves that sometimes certain bosses and clubs are simply not a good fit.

Sarri could not have achieved anything more at Chelsea. The fact that one of the top clubs in Europe have appointed him as their boss proves his quality as a coach.
