The race for the English top-flight title is extremely tight, with just a point between league leaders Manchester City and second-place Liverpool with two games league games remaining.

However, the race for the Dutch Eredivisie title is even closer, as league leaders Ajax and reigning champions PSV Eindhoven head into the last two league games of the season level on points.

Ajax are currently ahead of the champions courtesy of a superior goal difference of nine. Considering their excellent performances in the Champions League, it is very little surprise that the team from the Dutch capital are top of the Eredivisie table.

However, champions PSV Eindhoven are not giving up their crown easily and are going toe-to-toe with Erik ten Hag’s exciting young team.

The Dutch top-flight in currently in the midst of a short break in the action, as the next league games take place in around ten days’ time. The break will only add to the excitement and tension in the race to secure the title.

PSV’s remaining league games are against AZ and Heracles, while Ajax face Utrecht and De Graafschap. In truth, both teams will expect to win their final games, which would likely result in Ajax recording a victory.

Ajax head into the vital final pair of league games on the back of a six-game winning run in the Dutch top-flight. Ten Hag’s team has also claimed seven straight league wins at the Johan Cruyff Arena, with their next league game on home soil.

PSV’s recent top-flight form has not been as good as their title rivals. However, they are unbeaten in five league games since a 3-1 defeat in Amsterdam back in March, having recorded four wins in the process.

It could be an exciting finish to the Eredivisie season. Ajax could still do the double of Eredivisie title and Champions League. With the team expected to lose a number of key players this summer, winning the Eredivisie could be the perfect farewell to their exciting young players.
