It has been a rollercoaster season for Everton and their fans. A promising start to the season saw the men from Merseyside located in the Premier League’s top six. Then came a devastating stoppage-time defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

It took the Toffees a long time to get over that defeat and back to playing again. In fact, it has taken them months. However, in recent matches, they are showing signs of now turning the corner under Portuguese boss Marco Silva.

They have recorded wins over Chelsea and Cardiff, while also holding neighbours Liverpool to a goalless draw at Goodison Park. The second half display against Chelsea in a 2-0 victory illustrated just what Silva wants to achieve on Merseyside.

The team played at a frenetic tempo, passed the ball well and displayed defensive solidity. It was the sort of display that will have reassured Evertonian’s that Silva can still be the man to revive the Toffees in the near future.

The Merseysider’s have also kept three clean sheets in their last four league matches, which was one of their biggest problems earlier in the season. It has been a criticism of Silva at both Watford and Everton.

Silva still has a major job on his hands at Everton, as the club has a lot of deadwood that needs to be shifted from previous bosses. The Portuguese boss has not made a blistering start.

However, Everton are still within touching distance of seventh place and maybe a European place. As it is the Merseysider’s are 11th place in the table, a legacy of their terrible run of form earlier in the season.

Marco Silva is still one of the favourites to be the next Premier League boss to leave his job. His team have shown shoots of recovery of late, though, so he may just be the man to take the Toffees forward.
