Chelsea surprised many people this season by winning the Premier League title. Under Italian boss Antonio Conte the Blues won the title relatively comfortably and next season it will be an even tougher task for the former-Juventus boss and his team.
The team from south west London have enjoyed a great deal of consistency in their starting line-up this season. The starting line-up has started the majority of the matches for the Blues in the last few months, so Conte now needs to find a way to improve his squad.
That could be difficult, as it is hard to clearly identify any weak links in the first choice eleven. The likes of Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses would maybe be players that some fans would have been unsure of earlier this season.
However, both players have fulfilled their roles as wing-backs superbly. Not only has Alonso contributed to the defensive side of Chelsea’s play, but he has also been an attacking threat as well, producing six goals and three assists in the Premier League.
The Blues may be in need of a new forward, though, as speculation over the future of star striker Diego Costa continues. The Spanish international has been linked with moves to China and back to Atletico Madrid this summer.
The champions are reported to be in the running for their former striker Romelu Lukaku, who looks set to leave Everton. However, any move for the Belgian international is likely to be dependent on Costa leaving in the summer.
With their rivals at the top of the Premier League set to spend big money this summer, it will be harder for the Blues to win the title next season. Whether they will retain the title could well depend on the moves that boss Antonio Conte will make this summer.
