Allardyce can do a good job at Crystal Palace

On Thursday Premier League Crystal Palace decided to sack boss Alan Pardew. It now seems that Pardew’s replacement at Selhurst Park will be former England boss Sam Allardyce.

It is being reported that the former West Ham boss is on his way to the club to hold talks over becoming the Eagles new boss. The veteran boss’ last job was of course as England boss that was infamously cut short due to an off-the-pitch scandal.

Allardyce was unlikely to be out of work for long due to his stellar record with teams at the bottom end of the Premier League table. It now seems like his next job will be at Selhurst Park. He has previously managed the likes of Bolton, Blackburn, West Ham and Sunderland.

The experienced boss is regarded as something of an expert in beating the drop. The Eagles look set to be in the relegation battle, just one place and a point above the drop zone.

Allardyce has forged his reputation as a boss by creating teams that are hard to beat, even if they do not play the most attractive style of football. The 62-year-old will have a decent squad of players to work with and no doubt results will improve if, as expected he is appointed as the next Eagles boss.

Palace fans do not seem to be universally keen on Allardyce’s appointment due to his recent off-the-field actions and also due to his style of play in his former roles.

However, they will want to remain in the English top-flight. The Eagles have a relatively talented squad of players that definitely should not be where they are in the table. Allardyce has proven in the past that he has the managerial talent to get the best out of struggling teams, so could well prove a wise appointment for the Eagles.
