It is plain to see that Celtic are still some way off of Europe's elite, having failed to record a win in the Champions League so far. Despite an impressive 3-3 draw with Premier League side Manchester City, a heavy 7-0 defeat to Barcelona followed by a 2-0 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach makes it extremely difficult for the Scottish club to progress to the next round.

However, it is a different story for Brendan Rodgers' side in the Scottish Premiership. The reigning champions have won 10 of their opening 11 matches in the league, claiming convincing victories over fellow title chasers Aberdeen FC, Rangers, Hearts and St. Johnstone - all of the teams that occupy the four places just below Celtic.

Their brilliant start puts them 10 points clear of second placed Aberdeen with just a third of the season gone. Rodgers' side also have a game in hand, and while their next opponents Kilmarnock FC haven't had the worst of starts, Saturday's game will likely see Celtic add another three points to their tally. With 13 points separating first and second, the likes of Aberdeen and Rangers would need to see Celtic lose four and draw one over the course of the next 26 matches in order to overtake them, should they themselves embark on a flawless run from this point on.

It isn't impossible – Celtic lost four times in 38 matches throughout last season. However, two of those defeats came against Aberdeen and one against St. Johnstone when the title had already been secured. The fourth was a disappointing home defeat to Motherwell. However, all four of those defeats have already been corrected this season, with Celtic claiming victories over all three of those teams in their first 10 matches.

Likewise, the Celtic squad has drastically improved since last season. While Rodgers avoided making wholesale changes to a side that have won five consecutive titles over the summer, he did bring in two names that have drastically improved the side. Young striker Moussa Dembele has netted seven times in 11 league matches, while star signing Scott Sinclair has nine goal in the same amount of games from the wing.

However, the impact of Rodgers himself shouldn't be downplayed. The highlight of his Liverpool reign was the feared 'SSS' attacking trio. An attacking unit of Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez scored 67 goals and provided 45 assists between them throughout the 2013/14 season under the guidance of Rodgers, and he is pushing a similar attacking mentality to Celtic Park this season. They aren't happy with narrow leads and are fighting in each and every game to produce two, three or four goal winning margins.

Their ability to step it up a gear, despite leading the Scottish Premiership for half a decade, could make Rodgers' side untouchable at the top of the Scottish league system for some time. Many expected Rangers to give them a run for their money this season following their return to the top flight after succumbing to administration back in 2011. However, so far, Celtic have proven that they are still a number of steps ahead of their bitter rivals.

Both Celtic and Rangers have dominated the league for large periods of time, securing nine consecutive league titles each. Yet, with Rodgers at the helm, an always improving squad and a sixth consecutive title on the way, The Hoops could dominate Scottish football for years to come, overtaking Rangers as Scotland's most decorated team.
