Swansea appointed former USA boss Bob Bradley to try and attempt to move the team forward. The Swans experienced a poor start to their Premier League campaign under experienced Italian boss Francesco Guidolin.
The Italian paid the price for his team’s poor form by being sacked in October. Bradley was a surprise choice as Guidolin’s replacement. In truth, his appointment was always a risky one considering his lack of managerial experience at the top level of club football.
On Sunday the Swans suffered a 3-1 home defeat by Manchester United. The defeat means that the Swans are 19th in the top-flight, only above bottom place Sunderland on goal difference.
Bradley has taken just one point from his four games in charge of the Swans, suffering three defeats and recording just one draw. Swansea’s Icelandic star Gylfi Sigurdsson recently praised Bradley and his methods.
However, there are very little signs of the Swans form improving since the arrival of Bradley in south Wales. It seems that those who had doubts about Bradley’s ability to manage in the English top-flight may have had a point.
The Swansea boss has questioned the player commitment after the United defeat on Sunday. However, surely as boss of the team he should be responsible for motivating the players and making sure the players are committed to the cause?
Swansea have become an established Premier League. The Swans gained a reputation through the work of the likes of Roberto Martinez, Brendan Rodgers and Michael Laudrup as a team that liked to play football a certain way.
The last two bosses have not been of the same mindset of the previous bosses. Not only are Swansea struggling in the league, the Swans style of football has gone downhill.
At the moment Bob Bradley has got a lot to prove as a Premier League boss. If results do not improve soon then the Swansea hierarchy may be once again looking for another new boss.
