Chelsea went into Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off against Everton looking to answer some questions. Everton duo Romelu Lukaku and Yannick Bolasie presented the Blues with a big defensive challenge.

However, the Blues not only kept out the dangerous pair but hammered the Toffees 5-0 at Stamford Bridge. Not only are the Blues looking more solid in defence, they seem to be tearing it up in attack with Diego Costa and Eden Hazard in top form.

Granted Everton endured the sort nightmare game that most teams have from time to time. However, the home side were ruthless in dismantling the men from Merseyside.

Hazard has now scored five goals in his last four Premier League appearances, while Costa is top scorer in the top-flight with nine goals in 11 appearances. The two have combined to devastating effect in recent weeks.

Antonio Conte’s switch to a 3-4-3 in recent games has yielded five consecutive top-flight wins and also five consecutive clean sheets for his defence. Wing-backs Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso have been superb, with Spanish star Alonso scoring the Blues second goal against Everton on Saturday.

Conte has revitalised the Chelsea career of Moses, who had previously struggled for first team action in the top-flight. The Nigerian is now thriving in his new role.

Alonso’s compatriot Pedro had also struggled to find his best form since his move from Barcelona in the summer of 2015. However, the Spanish international has now produced four assists and two goals in his last four top-flight outings.

All-in-all Chelsea are flying under Italian boss Conte at the moment. The Blues form will have their rivals worried. For all those who predicted a battle of Manchester for the title, they may have to reassess their opinion, as Chelsea look like the real deal this season.
