On Monday night, Tottenham ripped Everton apart to record a 5-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The victory was a big one for Spurs hopes of finishing in the Champions League spots in the Premier League this season.

However, the defeat for Everton leaves the Toffees looking over their shoulders nervously at the relegation zone.

Tottenham were simply too good for a shocking Everton defence marshalled by the hapless Michael Keane, who scored an own goal to give Spurs the lead.

Harry Kane once again proved that he is the complete striker. He not only scored a brace but seemed to be involved in every Spurs attack, dropping deep into midfield and orchestrating attacks. His double means that the England international has now scored four times in as many games in the Premier League.

While Kane has been Spurs talisman for some time, there is another player who has caught the eye of late at Spurs in new signing Dejan Kulusevski.

The Swedish international joined the north London club from Juventus in the January transfer window and has made a bright start to his Tottenham career.

In fact, the former Parma star produced two assists on Monday night, which takes his tally to three assists and two league goals since his arrival. His signing could be the catalyst to Spurs’ challenge for a top-four spot this season.

They are currently three points adrift of arch-rivals Arsenal who are fourth but have played an extra game.

While Tottenham are dreaming about the Champions League once again, Everton are just looking to avoid playing Championship football next season.

The defeat in north London is a stark reminder that they have a major job on their hands avoiding getting sucked into the bottom three. The men from Merseyside are just a point clear of 18th place Burnley, with a game in hand on the Clarets.

Everton have tough fixtures to come and things don’t look great after their terrible display at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. For Spurs, things are looking up and the win could prove to be a springboard for their top-four challenge.
