Arsenal needs to sign a striker

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that he is looking to sign another attacking option this summer. The Gunners have constantly been linked with signing a new striker for the past few transfer windows.

The north London club will start their Premier League campaign short of fit forward options. French striker Olivier Giroud has been given extended leave following his Euro 2016. England international forward Danny Welbeck has a long-term injury and will miss the start of the campaign.

Wenger also has the option of playing the likes of Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez up front, but both are more effective as attacking midfielders.

Gunners fans have been hoping that their club would sign a high-profile striker for a long time, but have become increasingly frustrated by their spend-thrift boss.

Arsenal will be expected to compete for the Premier League title once again in the new campaign. However, the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been busy in the transfer market. In fact all three are rumoured to still be looking to strengthen their squad.

The Gunners spent big on Swiss defensive midfielder Granit Xhaka, but their other signings have been for smaller fees. Wenger’s side are also looking to sign another defender, but a new striker has to be among the priorities signings this summer.

If Arsenal are to mount a realistic title challenge in the new campaign, then they have to sign another forward this summer. If not then it looks unlikely that they will have enough firepower to compete with the likes of United, City and Chelsea.
