Bournemouth thinking big this summer

    Bournemouth thinking big this summer

Premier League Bournemouth have broken their transfer record for a consecutive transfer window, as the Cherries completed the £15million signing of highly-rated winger Jordon Ibe from Liverpool on Thursday.

Boss Eddie Howe has been talked about as a candidate to be the next England boss, but he certainly has been busy at club level signing five players this summer. The team from the south coast are showing immense ambition, just like they did in the last two transfer windows.

The Cherries have come a long way in the past couple of years, from near extinction to a team that comfortably held their own in the Premier League last season. Howe obviously has the confidence of the clubs hierarchy, which is understandable considering his achievements with the club, having taken the club from League Two to the English top-flight.

Prior to the beginning of the last campaign the Cherries were favourites for relegation from the top-flight. It is a measure of how far they have come as a club that the Cherries are no longer considered one of the favourites for the drop this season.

Howe has instilled a nice style of play in his team and he sticks to his philosophy. Adding quality players to his team will only improve the team’s style next season. The signing of Ibe is certainly an eye-catching one, as the 20-year-old winger is regarded as a hot prospect for the future.

Bournemouth have invested a lot of money in strengthening their squad over the last year and their squad now looks far stronger than when the Cherries first won promotion from the Championship.

Such is the job that Howe and the clubs board has done in strengthening their squad that they will be highly confident of avoiding a relegation battle next season.
