According to Sky Sports, Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho could replace Louis van Gaal at Manchester United. The Red Devils won the FA Cup on Saturday with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace. However veteran Dutchman Van Gaal is still expected to be replaced after United failed to qualify for the Champions League.
Mourinho is expected to be named as United boss in the next week, with the 53-year-old’s agent Jorge Mendes reportedly due to hold talks with the Red Devils on Tuesday.
Mourinho was sacked as Chelsea boss in December following the Blues awful start to their defence of the Premier League title. Despite that poor performance at Stamford Bridge, Mourinho still has the best win ratio of any Premier League boss.
The Portuguese boss has been successful wherever he has managed and seems to have the golden touch when it comes to winning silverware, or should that be the silver touch?
Mourinho is still regarded as one of the best modern day bosses and United capturing the former-Real Madrid boss is some of a coup for the Red Devils. United’s arch-rivals Manchester City have appointed arguably the best boss in world football in Pep Guardiola.
At Real Madrid Mourinho out-witted Guardiola in his last season at Barcelona and will once again be looking to out-fox the Catalan boss this time in the Premier League.
Given time Mourinho will bring success to Old Trafford if as expected he is appointed as Red Devils boss in the next week. The Portuguese boss brought success to all of his other clubs in the last decade and it seems likely that that run will continue at United.
