Burnley were promoted to the Premier League on Monday afternoon after a Sam Vokes goal saw the Clarets record 1-0 defeat against QPR. Sean Dyche’s team were promoted because of the fact that promotion rivals Middlesbrough face Brighton on the final weekend.
The Clarets have been promoted at the first time of asking following their relegation from the top-flight last season. Boss Dyche has done a fantastic job at Turf Moor, as last summer the team lost their best players in Kieran Trippier and Danny Ings to Tottenham and Liverpool respectively.
The Clarets are 22 matches unbeaten in the second tier and a win at relegation Charlton on the last day of the league campaign would mean they will finish the season as champions.
The Burnley boss has done excellent work in the transfer market in recent windows with the pick of the signings being controversial central midfielder Joey Barton and striker Andre Gray.
Barton arrived on a free transfer and has been a near ever present in the centre of midfield, while Gray is the league’s top scorer with 24 goals having arrived from Brentford for a reported club-record fee of £6million.
Burnley have been promoted in what Dyche describes as a ‘business-like’ fashion, that is because the club are in a very healthy financial position. The Clarets hierarchy have already stated that the club will be investing in their squad this summer in order to strengthen their squad.
Betting punters are already rushing out to back the Clarets for the Premier League title for next season on the back of Leicester’s title triumph. However, the club from Lancashire are more likely to settle for just avoiding the drop on their return to the top-flight.
