Lukaku is the Final Piece of the Puzzle at Stamford Bridge

Romelu Lukaku is a bit of an enigma in himself. The Belgian is his nation’s all-time top scorer, the 20th leading scorer in the Premier League, a Serie A winner, and the apparent fix to Chelsea’s title-winning pursuit. However, the striker still seems to lack complete acceptance as an elite forward around the globe.

In fact, the ex-Manchester United man is just six goals behind the legendary Jamie Vardy in the top scorer list with 113 netted in the Premier League, and should he score 14 in the league this season, he will break the top 15 in the all-time list.

Still, to this day, because of bad touches and the periods of poor conversion rates, Lukaku still hasn’t managed to get himself the recognition of players like Vardy and Didier Drogba - the latter is a player who he has nine more goals than.

So, can the great Belgian seal the deal for Chelsea and finally win the Premier League eight years after departing Stamford Bridge? Absolutely he can.

Put it this way, if Chelsea can finish third and win the Champions League with their top scorer bagging just 12 goals in all competitions in what was regarded as a torrid season for Timo Werner, now they can move even higher with Lukaku’s input.

Moreover, in the Premier League, midfielder Jorginho was the club’s top scorer with seven goals last campaign, as Werner and Tammy Abraham both failed to make an impact, whilst creative maestro Mason Mount popped up with a bunch too - all three players bagged six each in the league.

Whilst this was going on at Stamford Bridge, Lukaku was in his second season in Italy, where he was once again scoring goal after goal as Inter Milan won the Serie A for the first time in a decade.

The ex-Everton star - who is the Toffees’ leading goalscorer in the Premier League - scored 47 goals in Serie A across two campaigns, including 24 last season as they defeated Juventus en route to taking over Italy’s top flight once again.

Now, combine this elite and proven goalscoring ability across the continent and in the Premier League with players like Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Mount, and it’s near impossible to not regard Lukaku as the missing piece to a puzzle that only needs one or two more additions to make it complete.

Not only are Chelsea the defending champions of Europe, the club are now perhaps the most complete team in England and might just be nine months away from their sixth Premier League title, which will surpass Manchester City in the all-time chart.
