Aston Villa will struggle to bounce straight back up

Aston Villa were relegated from the Premier League on Saturday, after losing 1-0 at Manchester United. The Villans have been deemed as doomed for a long time, but the defeat made it mathematically impossible for the side from the Midlands to survive.

The Villans have struggled to win games this season and have collected just 16 points and winning just three times in the English top-flight. It has been a truly woeful campaign for the side from the Midlands. The team in 17th place Norwich have collected nearly twice as many points as Villa this season.

Both Tim Sherwood and Remi Garde have attempt and failed to stop the slump and ended up losing their jobs. In truth this situation has been brewing at the club for a good while, as the Villans seem to sell their best players every summer.

Their squad is now a rag-tag bunch of has-beens, young players and players that have been bought for very little money. In short they are simply not good enough to be in the top-flight of English football.

The big challenge is for the Villans to bounce straight back into the Premier League. That will prove a difficult task considering the competitive nature of the Championship.

A big factor in whether they win promotion back to the Premier League in swift fashion is the Villans next choice of boss. The next managerial appointment could shape the clubs future for years to come.

Yesterday’s relegation was inevitable, but only now will the reality hit home that one of English football’s most traditional clubs will be plying their trade in the second tier next season.
