    05/11/19 3014

Leicester move up to third in the Premier League table following a comfortable victory at Selhurst Park.

Caglay Soyuncu broke the deadlock on 57 minutes. The Turkish centre-back headed home James Maddison’s corner to put the Foxes in the lead.

Jamie Vardy then sealed the victory late on. The in-form striker completed an impressive one-two with Demarai Gray before sweeping the ball into the net.

Ben Chilwell almost made it 3-0 in added time, but the left-back's shot hit the inside of the post.

Crystal Palace created very few clear-cut chances. Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel had a quiet game and was rarely troubled.

The Foxes are level with Chelsea on 23 points, but their superior goal difference puts them ahead of the Blues. Brendan Rodgers side are just two points behind second-place Manchester City.

The Eagles are ninth with 15 points from 11 games. This was Palace’s second defeat in three Premier League games and their fourth top-flight defeat overall this season.

Leicester’s dominant midfield allowed the team to run the game. James Maddison and Youri Tielemans were unplayable at times, and this is reflected in the possession statistics.

Caglay Soyuncu and Jonny Evans also looked very assured in the centre of defence. This led to Palace registering less shots on target than Leicester.

Man of the Match: James Maddison (Leicester City)

Maddison once again caught the eye with an outstanding midfield performance. He dominated large portions of the game and produced eight key passes in the match (six more than any other player on the pitch).

The 22-year-old also registered an assist for Leicester’s opening goal. As Maddison continues to shine, his dazzling displays will surely see him earn his first England cap during the international break later this month.
