Bolivia will enter the 2021 Copa Americaas one of the outsiders to go all the way. They will play Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, and Paraguay in the group stage of the tournament and Bolivia are likely to enter each match as the underdog.

Therefore, Bolivia could be one of the two teams who fail to make it into the knockout stages of the competition.

    2019 Copa America

Bolivia were drawn in Group A of the 2019 Copa America along with Venezuela, Peru, and the host, Brazil. The fact Bolivia were in a group with Venezuela and Peru gave him an opportunity to pick up some points and possibly advance as one of the third placed teams.

However, it was a disappointing tournament for Bolivia and they finished bottom of the group without registering a point.

Bolivia lost all three of their matches and conceded 3 goals in each of their fixtures, which is an area for improvement in the upcoming competition.

You must go back to 1963 to find the only time Bolivia have won the Copa America and it was played on home soil. Since then, they have made the final once and have failed to progress beyond the group stage in seven of the eight most recent Copa America tournaments.

    Key Players

Bolivia are coached by former Venezuela coach Cesar Farias and he has experience of taking a country to the semi-final of the Copa America, having done so with his home nation in 2011. There is no doubt who is the key player in the Bolivia squad and forward Marcelo Moreno will be tasked with scoring the goals for his nation in this competition.

The 33-year-old has 22 international goals to his name and that makes him the top scorer in the history of the Bolivia national team. Moreno has been in good goalscoring form for Bolivia and will be aiming to take that into the Copa America.

There are plenty of experienced players in the Bolivia squad but one of the younger men to look out for in the tournament is Ramiro Vaca. The 21-year-old midfielder plays for The Strongest in the Bolivian domestic league but several European clubs have been showing an interest in the player.

Vaca has made seven appearance for his country at the time of writing, scoring one goal and will be keen to add to his tally if given the chance in the 2021 Copa America.

Other players to look out for in the Bolivian team include veteran striker Juan Carlos Arce and full-back Diego Bejarano.

    Chances

With four teams progressing from a five team group, Bolivia will feel they have a decent chance of reaching the knockout stages of the tournament.

They will be targeting the match against Paraguay for maximum points. The opening fixture gives them an opportunity to get something on the board early in the tournament but failure to do so could see them finish bottom of the group.
