We have several fantastic fixtures to enjoy across Europe on Sunday the 8th of October, beginning with Brighton vs Liverpool in the English Premier League.

The Seagulls have been stuttering of late and come into this one on the back of a heavy 6-1 loss at Aston Villa. Brighton games are always entertaining and they have seen both teams score and over 2.5 goals in each of their last 8 Premier League matches.

Liverpool suffered a controversial 2-1 loss at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend and that ended a run of 5 straight victories in the Premier League for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Much like Brighton, Liverpool’s league matches are usually fun to watch, having seen over 2.5 goals scored in their last 6 Premier League fixtures. We should see plenty of goals at the American Express Community Stadium.

However, the game of the weekend in the Premier League takes place at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon as Arsenal entertain Manchester City.

The defending champions come into this having suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.

That was only the second defeat in 24 Premier League games for Manchester City but they have won only 50% of their 6 most recent league games on the road.

Arsenal recorded a comfortable win at Bournemouth last weekend and are undefeated in the Premier League this season. The Gunners have scored at least 2 goals in 6 of their 8 most recent league matches but Manchester City have beaten Arsenal in each of their last 12 Premier League meetings.

Moving to the Netherlands and one of the early pacesetters in the Eredivisie, AZ, travel to the Johan Cruijff Arena to take on a struggling Ajax. AZ are undefeated in the Eredivisie this season, winning 6 of their 7 league games. Defensively, AZ have been excellent, keeping 4 clean sheets in their last 5 Eredivisie fixtures.

The same cannot be said for Ajax who have conceded 7 goals in their last 2 Eredivisie matches, which is 4 goals more than AZ have conceded all season in the league. Ajax have failed to win any of their last 4 Eredivisie games and this has the makings of being another tough weekend for the Amsterdam based club.

To Italy and one of the standout fixtures in Serie A on Sunday is between Lazio and Atalanta. The hosts have some work to do and Lazio have won only 1 of their 4 most recent Serie A matches. They have managed to score in 4 of their last 5 league games but have kept just a single clean sheet in their last 7 Serie A matches.

Atalanta were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Juventus last weekend and that means they are undefeated in 4 of their last 5 Serie A games.

There have been under 2.5 goals scored in each of Atalanta’s last 3 Serie A matches and we could see the same in this game.

Finally, we go to Spain and on Sunday two of Spain’s Champions League representatives go head to head as Atletico Madrid host Real Sociedad.

Atletico Madrid have won 4 of their last 5 La Liga matches and could be ready to mount a serious title challenge again this season.

Real Sociedad travel to the Spanish capital with the same La Liga record of 4 wins from their last 5 fixtures, so they will be playing with confidence.

Both clubs have been involved in some high scoring games this season, with Atletico Madrid seeing an average of 4.2 goals in their last 5 La Liga fixtures and Real Sociedad seeing an average of 5 goals per game in their past 5 league matches. This one should see plenty of goalmouth action.
