Life Without Kane for Tottenham Hotspur

Life Without Kane for Tottenham Hotspur

There has been much talk over the British record transfer for fee agreed by Chelsea for Moises Caicedo. The Brighton midfielder is expected to complete a move to Stamford Bridge this week having turned down Liverpool.

However, as the drama with Caicedo unfolded in England, the captain on the national team, Harry Kane, left the country to join Bayern Munich.

There is no doubt Kane is going to score goals in Germany but what does the future hold for the team he leaves behind?

Tottenham Hotspur stated the 2023/24 Premier League season with a 2-2 draw at Brentford.

The goals were scored by a central defender and full back and there was little in the way of good goal scoring opportunities for the front three of Spurs throughout the 90 minutes.

Last season, Kane scored 30 goals for Spurs in the Premier League, which equates to 43% of their total league goals for the season.

That is going to be a huge loss to any team and the England international enjoyed a fantastic partnership with Son Heung-min, who looked low on confidence in the draw at Brentford on Sunday.

Kane not only scores goals but he creates them and the striker had 9 assists in the 2021/22 Premier League campaign.

Kane also linked the play superbly for Spurs, often dropping deeper to collect the ball and making excellent passes to begin attacks for the team.

Kane’s all-round game is going to be difficult to replace but finding someone to score the same number of goals is going to be an even tougher task.

Richarlison is already at Spurs and to have the Brazilian number nine to come and replace the England number nine is a luxury most clubs envy.

Richarlison looked isolated at times in the match at Brentford and did not come close to scoring a goal.

The Brazilian international scored just a single Premier League goal last season but struggled to keep a regular place in the team.

Richarlison completed 90 minutes just once in the Premier League last season and his only goal came at the end of April against Liverpool.

When playing regularly in the Premier League for Everton in the 2021/22 season, Richarlison scored 10 goals, which shows he can reach double figures in the league.

It will take time for Spurs to adjust to life without Kane but Richarlison has scored 20 goals for Brazil in 44 appearances, which also highlights what he is capable of when selected.

The other option for Spurs is to move into the transfer market but who is available at the right price?

Fulham's Serbia striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is looking for a move and the Serbian scored 14 goals in 24 appearances in the Premier League last season.

High class strikers are difficult to find and Spurs may have to give Richarlison the chance to prove he is the man to replace Kane this season.
