The Premier League 2023/24 season is here, so we’ve rounded up the preseasons of the ‘Big Six’.

    Arsenal

Things went pretty well for Arsenal during preseason. They managed to draw with Nurnberg in their first game before smashing the MLS All-Stars 5-0.

However, by losing 2-0 to Manchester United, they did lose to a team aiming to close in on them in the Premier League season.

Nevertheless, Arsenal defeated Barcelona 5-3 as well, while also beating Manchester City on penalties in the Community Shield which was a huge deal after losing the title race.

    Manchester United

Although Erik ten Hag has made more moves in the transfer market by bringing in top names like Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount and Andre Onana, preseason games didn’t quite go so well.

In fact, United lost three in a row at one stage by suffering losses to Wrexham, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund after beating Leeds United, Lyon and Arsenal.

The Red Devils returned to Old Trafford and defeated Lens 3-1 before concluding things with a 1-1 draw against Athletic Club in Dublin

    Chelsea

The rebuilding process going on at Chelsea right now is about as big of a project as we've seen in Premier League history.

In the past two years, the entire ownership has changed and so has practically the entire coaching staff and squad itself.

New manager, Mauricio Pochettino, will be pleased with how things went in the summer, however, by beating Wrexham 5-0, Brighton & Hove Albion 4-3 and Fulham 2-0. The Blues also drew 1-1 with Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund.

    Manchester City

A loss in the Community Shield takes the headlines for City’s preseason roundup, but the Premier League champions did also beat Atletico Madrid, Yokohama FM and Bayern Munich.

City have also seen some big names leave the club but bulked up the squad with signings like Josko Gvardiol. Ultimately, despite the loss to Arsenal, Pep Guardiola won’t be too concerned.

    Tottenham Hotspur

In many ways, Tottenham Hotspur's summer was all focused on the transfers.

The attention turned to the future of Harry Kane and who Ange Postecoglou would bring in during his first transfer window.

Spurs also struggled at times on the pitch, losing to West Ham United and Barcelona, while also beating Shakhtar Donetsk and Lion City.

    Liverpool

Liverpool only lost to Bayern Munich in terms of defeats this summer, beating Leicester City, Karlsruhe and Darmstadt and drawing 4-4 with Greuther Furth.

What’s more, with the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, things look good for the Reds heading into the new season.
