Bayern Munich to continue move up the Bundesliga table with win

Bayern Munich are suddenly back in-form and playing well in the Bundesliga. Interim coach Hans Flick has led the German champions to back to back wins in the league. Those wins ended a two-match losing streak and have Bayern Munich in third place.

The German club is just four points off of top teams RB Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach. Just as it appeared Bayern Munich would struggle to fight for a title, they have suddenly re-emerged as a contender.

Wolfsburg have dropped to eighth place due to inconsistent play over the last few weeks. Wolfsburg have collected seven points from their last 15 and go into the weekend coming off of a midweek draw with Schalke.

Bayern Munich are unbeaten in their last 11 matches versus Wolfsburg. They have collected nine victories during that 11-match unbeaten run against the Wolves. The visitors have never won away to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.

When Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg met at the Allianz Arena last season, the home side won 6-0. They were 2-0 up a halftime before adding four more goals to the scoreline.

Thiago is suspended for the fixture which means Joshua Kimmich will slot into midfield. Mickael Cuisance is ruled out due to injury. Meanwhile, midfielders Leon Goretzka and Corentin Tolisso aren’t expect to play due their own injury issues.

Wolfsburg have no new injury issues and go into the weekend with a full complement of players. The visitors have the Bundesliga’s best defence with just 16 goals conceded to opponents. Bayern Munich, on the other hand, have allowed 22 strikes.

Bayern Munich have been prolific in front of goal with 44 goals being scored. It is the second-best mark in the Bundesliga and is keeping them around the top of the league. Wolfsburg have scored a more modest 18 goals which is the fourth-fewest in the division.

Wolfsburg’s last win versus Bayern Munich came in January 2015. The Wolves picked up the victory at home 4-1.

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has scored 19 goals this season which is 43% of the team’s goals. Lewandowski is good value to find the back of the net once more this weekend. The Polish striker has bagged three goals in his last two games.

The home team should once again pick up a victory versus Wolfsburg and continue their push up the Bundesliga table. Both teams should score with over 2.5 goals tallied. Their last five matches in the league have seen both teams score goals galore, so expect over 2.5 goals to be scored.
