On Friday night, the leaders of the Ireland Premier Division Dundalk host struggling UCD at Oriel Park, as the home side look to maintain their lead at the top of the table.
Dundalk have certainly been in fine form of late, as they are unbeaten in 12 league games having recorded 11 victories in the process.
The home side has been prolific in recent league matches, scoring at least twice in 10 of their last 11 matches, including in a 3-0 win at Finn Harps last time out.
Dundalk’s recent good league form has seen them move five points clear of second-place Shamrock Rovers at the top of the table, although Rovers do have a game in hand on the home side.
The league leaders are also 14 games unbeaten on home soil in Irish top-flight, recording 11 victories in the process. Their attacking prowess has also been on full display in recent home games in the Irish Premier League, as they have scored at least two goals in five of their last six matches on home soil.
UCD are enduring a difficult campaign in the Premier Division, as the team from the capital are currently ninth place in the table, only off the bottom of the table courtesy of their superior goal difference to bottom place Finn Harps.
The visitors recent league form has been awful, as they have lost their last nine games in the Ireland Premier Division, including last time out when they suffered a 1-0 defeat at Waterford. A key factor in that recent poor run of form is that the visitors have failed to score in their last seven league matches.
Also losing 18 of their last 19 league games on their travels has not helped the visitors plight at the bottom of the table.
